Strangely enough, it's not actually the CDs which are the problem as when I first introduced to the world of ipods I used the factory settings on itunes and hence it is easy to see which are my ripped CDs as they are all m4a, 128kbps (only ~200 albums). At some time I intend on going up into the loft and re-ripping using 256vbr mp3 (although I have been planning on doing that for well over a year and probably never will). The bigger problem is that for a long time I used to download stuff off mp3sparks using MPEG-4, and there is no way I'm forking out the cash to redownload those. Anyway, I'm happy enough with my ipod so although a little irratated by the whole formatting thing, I can live with it,
Cheers,
Dave
