jazzy, if y get a chance, just try it. it should set you back just +/- $25
these days. and as long as you dont overdo it (which is what many young
people do), the effect is pleasant on many an old (or plainly bad) recording.

oh yes, it cannot 'recover' lost details - and it is not meant to do that anyhow.
but it can emulate them, recreate some of them, and if applied with sense,
make for a more pleasant listening experience. the ear is easily fooled.

and that, to me, who usually sits in front of a stereo system of considerable
$$$s, is a very valuable argument.

PS: how many laptops have lousy sound outputs? no line inputs at all? THAT
alone is worth quite a bit. even if you use the X-Mod as a straight-thru USB
sound interface, with no sound effects added at all, but the volume control,
it sounds a 100 times better than many laptops alone.
