1990's - The Divine Comedy (impossible choice from 3  )

OK, OK you win, you are the official SA  .
The Divine Comedy from the 1990's is, indeed, an inspired choice as I thought I was the only person who liked them  but, lyrically, they were brilliant. Must check out the Decemberists as I admit to never having heard of them

Dave turned me on Divine Comedy. Absolutely fantastic. Must admit, when I put an album on random play for the first time, and to my utter and complete shock the first track that came on was the theme song from "Father Ted", I was sold on them immediately.
