5-10 Greatest Bands from each era 50's to 2000's - 05-26-2008, 03:48 AM

Name the 5-10 greatest bands (can be individual as well) from each era with the most influence on future generations and had to get their start in that era, not gain their popularity.
All of this is my opinion, so please list yours

1950's
The Drifters
Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Elvis Presley
Roy Orbison
Ray Charles

1960's
The Beatles
Grateful Dead
The Doors
Jimi Hendrix
The Rolling Stones
The Who
Black Sabbath
Led Zeppelin

Hi Mehrens, I think Nightfly is right. You're clearly too smart for many (certainly way too smart for me ) of the forum members. Perhaps if you were to ask people for their favourite band or artist from each decade there may be a bigger response. On that premise I'll go with:
1950's - Elvis
1960's - The Who
1970's - The Jam
1980's - (despite being a sad decade for music ) U2 (where's Solaris )
1990's - Nirvana
2000's - Blimey, it's not over yet but I'll go for Amy Winehouse

I like Mehren's list a whole lot - but I'd love to post my own. Need some time to make it though. I'll be back with my list ... sometime later though. Plus, I have a whole lot more bands for the current decade. There's a tons of good music out there, if you know where to look.
