Who knows, Amy Winehouse *may* be revered in 400 years in the way Shakespeare is today, but that's not the point. Both are popular writing figures of their day, and nothing's wrong with comparing them.
You could validly compare Homer with Eminem or any other modern writer, too.

On the other hand, I think reading Harry Potter (with all due respect - I love it!) at school is a travesty!
