If someone else is paying there's great fun to be had exploring the range of beers on offer from Sam Adams; they do some great Wheat Beer, Fruit beers, Brown Ale, an Oatmeal Stout and a Cream Stout amongst others. I hear tell they also do a good range of seasonal beers but I've never had the pleasure
Hirs;

I didn't take it as snobbish at all! I understand the reputation PBR has. It is right up there with Schlitz and a couple of others.
I like the looks/faces I get when asked if I have beer in the fridge and I tell them that I am fully stocked with Pabst Blue Ribbon. They are expecting that I will have Corona or Pacifico (which is very good). I am not a big fan of Mexican beers but Pacifico is top drawer in my book. Not real easy to find though.
Most will take it but look at me as if I had two heads!
By the way: Sam Adams Winter Ale is really good.
Often the local grocery will have a 12 pack for about 13 bucks. I'll buy a couple for that price.

See Ya - Mark

Hi Mark, Thanks. I've never tried Pacifico, I'll see if I can find it this side of the pond

How did I miss this thread, this speaks to me where I live. The initial posts made me long for a proper pint of cask (any of Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Nick Stafford's Hambledon Bitter, Cairngorm Tradewinds, etc. will do).

For those local to the Washington DC/Baltimore metro area I strongly recommend Brewer's Art Beacon Ale (which would be remakable on cask if they provided it in that format) or Proleatry Ale both of which they are now making in house (formerly contracted by Old Dominion). My workaday brew lately has been Sly Fox Pikeland Pils (in the can!). Stunning and frightfully easy to drink.

This is just one man's opinion but Pacifico and PBR are watery at best.

Just received a care package from Blighty containing Young's Special, Innis & Gunn Oak Aged, Wychwood Plum Pud, and Meantime Winter Warmer. All except the Innis & Gunn (which we can actually get here now) are unavailable and bottle conditioned.

I'm happy to have them but it really makes me miss true cask ale.

FWIW the Young's tasted like pish. Is it just me or have they gone down hill since the Wells merger?

500+ years of (tasty) brewing history gone with the stroke of a pen. A least I got to traverse the Wandsworth site before it was shuttered. I guess this leaves Fullers as unoppsed crown champion of Londinium. Well there's Meantime but that's another thing entirely.

Young's Spesh, I'll miss you.

I've seen this one before. IIRC it's a Dutch or German pilsner. I'll see if I can figure it out.
