Chart toppers when you were born? - 07-22-2008, 07:01 AM

It's been a bit quiet in here lately so I thought i would start a new thread.

What was topping the charts when you were born.
No need to give exact dates just around the time of your birth.

I have struggled to get details for me (too old ) but this is what I have found so far:

Billboard: Goodnight Irene by Gordon Jenkins and the Weavers
This record also seems to have appeared in the country music charts as well but by different artists.

As for the UK I could not find anything as it appears that the charts did not start until 1952 but the sheet music topper was Eve Young & The Homesteaders - "Silver Dollar (Roll, Roll, Roll)".

Two sites to check:
www.onlineweb.com/theones/
www.everyhit.com/dates/

Just a bit of fun

If you have one watch you know what the time is. But if you have two you don't know which one is right.

The more advice you get the more confusing it becomes.

The Buggles - "Video Killed The Radio Star"

How appropriate!

Although I was born in Russia

Excellent find Solaris

As of 7/22/2008 4:57:48 PM EDT I am 1,823,014,668 seconds old
Today is not one of your lucky days! - you can say that again
I can boil 6.63 US ounces of water with the candles on my next birthday cake.

And my name means:
Lives in the ash tree grove. Derived from a surname and place name based on the Old English word for ash wood. Famous bearer: Ashley, the male character in Margaret Mitchell's popular 'Gone with the Wind'. Both a male and female name.

Very true as I was named after this character, Mum had a thing for Leslie Howard who played the role of Ashley Wilkes

3.31?
That's almost exactly half mine so I reckon that makes you about half my age - a mere child my dear
