In South American (Columbia, Argentina, etc), I don't think he would have made it out of the stadium.
American fans can be nutso too about their University's sports programs. I am convinced that KU (Kansas) fans are the worst in the country. OU (Oklahoma), and OSU (Ohio State) are the meanest.

I know what you mean about the fans in South America - they are really crazy and fanatical over there.
But like I said before, when a game goes to penalties, it`s a complete lottery.
Someone has to miss eventually, there will always be a hero or a villain, but it`s just a cruel way to settle such a big game, after these guys have run their hearts out for 2 hours.

I'm a Liverpool supporter and have to say, Man U deserve their victory. They've often matched Arsenal for nice football this season, they've won the league so it's right they've also triumphed in Europe. Fair play to them.
Credit to Chelsea for getting that far though, they all did the British game proud.
Here's hoping Liverpool in the final next year (once we get 3 new midfielders and another striker...)
I'm not really a fan of either team, especially Chelsea and Terry (I honestly think Steven Gerrard would be a better England captain) but still, I'm not gloating over his miss, I'm sorry for the guy. He'll just have to take it on the chin I guess.

My whole family are massive Man. U fans so I was very glad they won it (going back for a visit this weekend & it would have been a crappy trip if they'd lost ). Felt a bit sorry for Lampard; thought he deserved some good news after his recent history, but that's life . Vik, if you are coming to England soon expecting to see some football, you are going to be dissapointed. Next proper game isn't until 10th August, and that's the Charity Shield. Who the hell am I going to support in that one; Pompey or Man. U (Wife or Family ),
Cheers,
Dave C

I'm guessing the majority of contributors on this site are from the UK/EU or at least more so than the U.S. Cricket is fun to play, but boring as hell to watch. I tried to watch a match when I was there in 2004. ZZZZZZZZZZ Would rather watch paint drying. Rugby is the sport I enjoy watching the most.

Crickets a funny one. For some reason going to a game can be really nice, providing you've got the weather and a beer to go with it. Not been to a game for years & years, but it does have a great chilled out 'English' atmosphere (or at least it used to) . Never managed to get into Rugby, only played it once and ended up with a bust leg & dislocated shoulder .
Cheers,
Dave C
