I agree - I wish the Blues had stayed up. I would much prefer there were more Midlands teams in the Premier League than there are at present. Providing the Baggies are there of course.

Hi Mellifluous. Well in terms of both genres, what started me down these roads were the usual suspects I guess:
Yes, Genesis, Floyd, ELP, King Crimson, Oldfield, Vangelis, Jarre, Kraftwerk, Kitaro, then Marillion, It Bites and Pallas too.
Then I discovered a couple of mail order companies in the 80s, where I bought loads of new stuff (new to my ears anyway), which I hadn't heard before, based on their recommendation. This is how I discovered:
Pendragon, IQ, Gandalf, Shadowland, Threshold, Landmarq, Mark Shreeve, Andy Pickford, Ian Boddy, Peter Mergener, Paul Ward, John Dyson, Vulgar Unicorn, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Magellan, etc.
Of course, since the internet exploded, music is far more accessible now - and arguably more disposal, which I'm not sure is such a good thing but hey, mauybe that's the subject of a whole new thread - so I've now discovered the likes of:
Willowglass, Caamora, Magenta, Pineapple Thief, Bjorn Lynne, Anekdoten, Spock's Beard, The Flower Kings, Beardfish, Coheed and Cambria, Opeth, Collage, Iona, Magic Pie, Manning, Tangent.....oh I could go on for ages. I've got piles of the stuff!

Hi BFIE (thanks for the shortened version of your username - it`s a lot easier!).
Welcome to the forum
I`m sure you will enjoy it here - we have a lot of members who are very knowledgeable on music and other related subjects.
Interesting taste in music you have, I must admit I haven`t heard of a lot of the artists you mentioned, but great to see Marillion, Kraftwerk and Vangelis named amongst them
And good luck to the Baggies in the Premier League next season - let`s hope you can establish yourselves this time and avoid becoming a "yo-yo club".
