When I gave you this assignment I kinda hoped that you wouldn't remember this one*, which I agree should be 'extraordinary' instead of 'extraordinarily'

I was still at school, when I made this post - and therefore nowhere near my xxxxxx - English dictionary, which I surely would have consulted, if I had been at home

I actually thought both words looked kinda 'dodgy' at the time - but when I got around to reading my post again later that night, I didn't bother to replace the two words Mostly because I find that the 'Last edited by...'-message looks equally sloppy (now, how sick and twisted is that?)

*I remembered it myself EVEN before I gave you the assignment...

Dang, my old Achilles' Heel: To spend

I thought I had eliminated any wrong use of this stupid verb

I actually remember thinking whether to use spend or spent in this very post (this was not long ago, remember?) - but I quickly opted for the first mentioned (maybe because the word 'spend' ends with an e in both the past tense and in the infinitive in my own language

So you did find two grammatical errors, Princess - but I'm pretty sure that I've made no more than 100 (all in all) in nearly 8,000* posts )

And when it comes to my PM's (or PMs)(see, an abbreviation again, so you can use both alternatives in plural), I might be 1‰ less concentrated in my writing - but NEVER sloppy

*Yes, 8,000

I'm sorry, solaris, but I can't let that go unchallenged. CD's is a clear example of the "greengrocers' apostrophe" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostro...27_apostrophes . The fact that it's common doesn't make it right.

Surely you can't believe that the following sentence is correct:
"If you happen to own some especially important and rare CD's, you might choose to refer to those CD's' importance and rarity."

Check out the Apostrophe Protection Society if you still don't believe me

wow... who knew that a early morning grammar failure would generate so many posts. I don't know whether to keep the bad grammar flowing or paste everything into Word before posting to keep the grammar nazi at bay...

* The word 'Nazi' should be written with a capital N, if we were to write about Germany (1933-1945) - but we're not...

P.S. AND the 'Its' in the thread title should be 'It's'

That's what I thought as well. "CD's" in that situation looked really really wrong
