Journey in 2008 - 07-09-2008, 09:33 PM

So I'm going to go see a couple of oldies but goodies tonight. Journey and CheapTrick...I'm mostly going to see Trick but I guess Journey found a new singer in the Phillipines who nails the Steve Perry stuff. They are starting a new world tour tonight.

I'll give a review tomorrow...

Cheap Trick sounds real good..I heard a recent live recording and they
still sound like a great band.

but Journey without Perry is a sorry band indeed..they are merely imitating themselves....But you will see for yourself....

I hear you, but when I get 6th row tix for free I'm less discerning and more focused on having a good time. The band that will really be hard for me to sit thru is gonna be Heart so I guess I'll show late and save myself the misery of the Wilson sisters.

I'm also thinking the "babe factor" will be pretty high, most females I know "Love" Journey

Hi Kaeli,

Be interested to read your review.
Personally I can't imagine Journey without Steve Perry - such a distinctive and unique voice, but good luck to them on their tour all the same.

You guys probably know which of the three aforementioned bands I like the best...

P.S. There are five clues to the answer, right there in my emoticon (well, and one in the header)

Journey with Jeff Scott Soto (Yngwie Malmsteen, Talisman, etc.) a couple years ago albeit it was brief was almost as good as Steve Perry, but I'm also a HUGE Soto fan. I still think they should have adopted the Soul Sirkus name and gone out more as that outfit and just played a lot of Journey covers, but then again they would not be playing as big a venue if they did because the average fan would not know anything about Soul Sirkus (great album called World Play that is JSS and Neil Schoen and a couple others). Heart is the headliner I think, so hope you got there early.

GO SOX!!!!!!!

Heart......they are not what they used to be..
I liked some of their hits and Wilson had a powerhouse voice but I have seen them recently...and they are not what they were once...but that might
have been a bad night for them.

But Heart was good in their day,not my favorite but certainly entertaining.
