Vanderbilt University psychologists have found that professionally trained musicians more effectively use a creative technique called divergent thinking, and also use both the left and the right sides of their frontal cortex more heavily than the average person.

You always hear that people are either thinking very creative or very logical - but musicians are definitely able to do both

This explains a lot. I am tone deaf and broke my recorder when I was at school.

It's been a long time

Obviously it does not work in reverse!

I was (and still am) pretty good at maths, always top of my class, but musically I am a dunce.

I have always wanted to play the piano and sing but try as I might it is hopeless. So I stick to listening to others.

If you have one watch you know what the time is. But if you have two you don't know which one is right.

The more advice you get the more confusing it becomes.
