nevermind how you spell it, love their schaschlik. but what beats it all,
is the lamb roast, a whole lamb turning slowly over a pit. makes one try
to be invited to as many weddings as possible.

Do you know what манты is? Kind of like dumplings with lamb made in a steamer. Very popular and traditional in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, where I grew up of course. Well my cousin married a Mexican boy (that's a whole other story worthy of like 5 pm's), and he put salsa on the manti. I got so offended I lost ability to speak for like 5 minutes (the most blissful minutes of my husband's life I am sure).
