Nice relaxing song though.
It charted three times in '85-'86 in the UK - I still have the 12"
I used to hate Paul Weller. I didn't like The Jam (sacrilege to some) or Style Council. I had problems with both the music and the image.
But when Wild Wood was released there was a huge buzz about it. Weller is from my generation and grew up with the same music - Small Faces, Traffic etc - and the influences really showed in this album.
When I heard it I had to concede I was wrong about him. Then he released Stanley Road and Heavy Soul, which were just as good.
He's a strong-willed guy and tends to go off at tangents, which makes his later stuff a bit inconsistent. Haven't heard the new one yet.
Incidentally, you were talking earlier about Dr John. Weller covered I Walk On Gilded Splinters (from Gris Gris) on Stanley Road.
I only like The Style Council - but this would hardly come as a surprise to anyone here in this forum
I was also very pleasantly surprised to see Latin Quarter`s album pop up on Sparks.
Will have to take a listen to it, I remember Radio Africa (of course), and there were also a few other singles from it too.
Been so long since I have heard anything by them.
Currently listening to "Songs From The Big Chair" by Tears For Fears - great album
Still sounds so good after all these years.
And the year was.... (cue solaris)
