Rogers blocking some .ru sites - dslreports.com
Hi E DesRock and welcome to the forum

Did you change to OpenDNS in the end to be able to access GoMusic.ru?

Unhappy hmm....Canada, Rogers, Persona.... - 11-03-2007, 05:49 AM

Interesting!! I think my problem is solved. Not that I'm actually going to be able to ever access GoMusic again.....but at least I know why!

After reading more posts here (re: Rogers etc) I did some digging. Right around the time I began to have problems was shortly after I switched from Telus to Persona. It appears, that Persona may be involved with Rogers....I am still looking stuff up on that. They certainly have been partners in at least one major network issue on the east coast. Perhaps Persona is doing the same thing Rogers did???? (the blocking .ru sites etc).

I switched because we were having problems of a different (and vERY RUDE) nature with Telus. It appears Persona - at this time - is the only alternative ISP in the area (smaller northern community). So switching again (I will NOT go back to Telus just because of a site with a 4.78 balance) is not an option. I CAN say that Persona has been SO on top of legal/spam stuff that when I sent one of those "cute" forwards to a select group of friends, it appears someone was offended, reported me and hence I was automatically blocked from sending ANYTHING through a 3rd party server (?? I don't really understand that jargon). (And they didn't tell me - I had to figure it out myself).

But anyway - I strongly suspect this may be the issue.

What is OpenDNS????

GoMusic - 01-07-2008, 08:18 AM

Thankfully, this service has been working for me all along whether on my regular server (Earthlink) or OpenDNS. I'm still getting in without a problem.
