Ultimate Music Downloader (download manager for mp3sale) - 04-17-2008, 02:05 PM

I need your help! As always

We're ready to release an alpha version of our download manager.
But, first of all, I'd like someone to test it. So, here's the link to installer:

http://www.mp3sale.ru/soft/umd-setup.exe

You can download it and test it... I'm waiting for comments, suggestions, bug reports and so on...

So, Please, PM me with all information you'll be able to provide....

hehe, you should change the name of it...that would be a start as it's far from Ultimate downloader.

I tested the alpha version of the UMD this evening. It seemed to work fine, I liked the look and feel of it and also it came up with all the songs in the My Music folder ready to go (nice). It gave a good visual as to what was happening, and it seems fairly fast as far as speed. So that part was good.

What I didn't like was that I couldn't find a way to specify a target directory for the downloaded files. It created its own directory structure -- /windows/profiles/ossadchy/"some Russian word ??"/my eMusic/ and then a directory for each different artist in the download list, even if I did not DL a song by that artist it still created a folder for that artist.

So I liked most everything about it, except for the file handling capabilities. And then creating it's own wacky directory structure under windows, not My Documents.

Also, is there an un-install to remove the UMD and any writes that it makes to the registry, etc.? If not, it needs one.

As for the name, I could give a rat's left teste as to what it is called. If it works well and does what it supposed to do quickly and efficiently, that's all I care about.

I wasn't able to select that, the only choice I had was File Naming. I went back today and checked, and now I see it under General. Also, the uninstall is addressed so that's good too. Could be a winner...

Linux? - 04-20-2008, 06:31 PM

@pastor39

Hi, I think it would be fine if you can port this downloader for Linux. Supporting more OS than Windows would bbe great!

Sincerely yours assen

I did try downloading & using this when it was first posted, but I could not get it to work. I did not bother to try to work out why though as I am happy with just using DownThemAll. More likely to be something I messed up rather than the downloader,
Cheers,
Dave C
