Ukrainian - not Russian... - 04-12-2007, 06:14 PM

I just wanted to point out that MP3Sugar.com in fact is Ukrainian - not Russian as many people tend to believe.

Just like MP3Stor.com.

... And that's what makes is actually stand out.

Besides the usual music that most people are looking for, if you're interested in obtaining Russian rock albums, most of them are in fact protected under Russian IP laws and will not be found on the mp3sparks.com. I asked for projected availability at the MM site and the response was "we're currently negotiating with the right holders."

Not so with this lovely sight. All Russian music in all its glory - because the site is Ukrainian, protection by Russian Federation IP laws is null and void - download to your heart's content.

Posting this in case someone out there actually would be looking for something like this - as if many of you are indeed interested in Russian albums. But if you are and can't find them on Sparks - this site is your destination, and at $0.18 per song they're pretty competitive. Chronopay will smoothly take your credit card, and you're on your way to nostalgic reruns of your youth in the 21st century.

Sounds like it's worth it for me to explore. I haven't downloaded any new russian rock in a long time.

They also have a lot of "non-commercial" and "alternative" stuff: industrial, club dance, and more flavours of metal than you can count. If you're after something unusual, check 'em out.

My fave right now is Truart, a Ukrainian one-man industrial folk outfit. EBM drums with an Aaron Funk side-salad, bizarre grunting vocals, spaced-out samples, along with what sounds like traditional instruments like fiddles and accordians. Never heard anything quite like it before. Utterly superb, IMHO.
