LegalSounds a word of warning......

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Last night and this morning I have tried to put some money onto Legal Sounds, it all works OK and looks fine until the very last bit. I use either MC or Visa and the last page opens up for Visa Secure, but instead of asking for 3 x random symbols, it is asking for the whole password, which I refused, and the payment failed. I have just been on to NatWest Secure who issue my 2 x cards and they say that it is wrong, you should never be asked to enter your whole password. I have sent an email to Legal Sounds about this problem, and I will update you when I hear.

On the very last page, it takes me to Visa Secure, there it should ask me
for 3x symbols from my password, yours is asking for the complete password
which is what is wrong???

To be fair, I have just tried to add to my balance on mp3sparks.com, and I am getting the same "problem", as I have reported above for legalsounds.com, it is asking for the complete password, and my bank NatWest tells me this is wrong???

Now I am not sure what should be happening at all?

There seems to be a problem adding money to legalsounds.com & mp3sparks, I will not be using either until I can sort out this password problem???

I have been back on to my bank NatWest and they are saying if I give you the
whole password, then I am defeating the object of 3d secure, CSV is just the
three numbers on the back of the Credit Card, and these are stated on the CC
page anyway. They would not be happy if I put the whole password in to you.

Update from my Bank 1/6/07

Apologies, I will explain as best as I can.

On both mp3sparks and legalsounds, when I try to add to my balance, everything goes OK until the last page, using my VISA CC it takes me to supposedly my Bank and VISA 3d-Secure website. Now this is where I BELIEVE the problem is, when I use VISA 3-d Secure on other internet purchases, it asks for 3 x symbols from my password, on mp3sparks & legalsounds, it is asking for the WHOLE password, after 2 x calls to my Bank and CC supplier, they tell me THEY would never ask for the WHOLE password as it defeats the object, it is the same as giving out your PIN number on the internet.

I hope that has helped people, all I can say is I will not be using these two sites unless this can be resolved, unless it is their way of getting round their CC problems I dont know.

Do you mean the Verified By Visa secure page? That's a completely different website that is run by Visa. If your Visa is registered you need to enter your password in order to make payments at sites that are using Verified By Visa. MP3Sparks and Legalsounds.com are both registered somehow with the program. A lot of other websites are too. Visa is requesting your password, not Legalsounds or MP3Sparks. If you don't enter it Visa declines the transaction.

I cannot explain this anymore better than my previous post.

Yes, it is the Verified by VISA Secure Page.

But it is asking for the WHOLE password and not just THREE randomly chosen symbols, as almost every other website has done. By putting in the whole password you are DEFEATING the object as stated many times by my bank the National Westminster (NatWest), who issue both my VISA & Mastercard credit cards.

I use the Verified By Visa with MP3Sparks and it makes me put in my entire password. I've never had a problem with anyone stealing any information. The password is established with Verified By Visa and they require you to enter it to approve your purchase. You're not defeating anything, that's the prupose of the password in the first place. But it's a back and forth so it's mute anyway.

I also created an account to duplicate what you were saying about Legalsounds. I was curious and they directed me to Verfiied By Visa. I entered my password and my card was not only declined but locked by my bank. I spoke to security yesterday (after my account being frozen for 24 hours) at my bank and they said that the charge coding for Legalsounds is registered under the name of the Russian MP3 Federation and because there is a good bit of fraud with credit cards and Russia my specific type of bank Visa had chosen to block it unless I call them before every transaction to approve. MP3 Sparks is registered under MP3Sparks.com.

All I can wish you is luck. As I have learned from this site, if there's a way it can be found. And if there's not, someone will create/hack/decode one.
