Question Where is Legalsounds? - 10-16-2008, 07:38 PM

Hi all,

I am new to this forum so I thought I would start by introducing myself as someone who has been using Legalsounds for at least a year already and have successfully managed to find my way around many of the issues I read on this site and have downloaded over 3000 tracks... chickenfeed for some I know, but a lot for me ;-)

Until recently of course, hence this post..!

As of around 2-weeks ago (in fact the day after I topped up my account again) I cannot see the site and the navigation fails in my downloader. Does anyone know whether or not there has been any restrictions imposed on where you access the site from or any other reason for this? Is anyone else having any problems with the legalsounds website?

Thanks for any information. I can't find anything in Google.

Regards

Paul.

Hello Filky and welcome.

Why don't you ask Legalsonds assistance for help?

As far as we know you are the only poster with such a problem.

Take my advice and seek out the source, Legalsounds.

Good luck

Nightfly

Hi Paul & welcome to the Forum ,
Not sure why you are seeing this problem as it works fine for me?? Questions for other members; could this be a case of ISP blocking and if so how can he get round it,
Cheers,
Dave C

Hi Paul,

You don't say where you are located but if you are in the UK I would not have thought it would be an ISP problem.
Are you running Windows? If so can you do a trace to the site.
If you do not know how to do this click on 'start' and then 'run'.
When the dialogue box appears type 'cmd' (without the quotes) which should give you a command prompt in a window.
At the prompt type 'tracert www.legalsounds.com' and press enter and see if you can get to them.
If not it should show where your connection is failing with a 'request timed out'.
My connection goes from zen (my ISP) to masterhost in a couple of hops.

If you can't get beyond your ISP then it could be blocking by them.

Arrow Legalsounds help - 10-16-2008, 08:21 PM

That was the fastest set of responses I have ever seen in a forum..! Thank you.

I have tried the traceroute but am not sure what this is telling me.

I would also like to contact legalsounds but I don;t have a contact address for them and can't access their site to find one. Can anyone help me with a contact e-mail maybe?

It is odd because the tab in mozilla does seem to get there as I get the small legalsounds image on the left of the tab, but the page itself remains blank.

Thanks for all the help so far though.

Regards

Paul.

paul, yr tracert reaches legalsounds with no major problem, so the internet
is not the issue. can you just to circle this in try another browser, another
computer (even a public one or internet cafe), and see how far you get?

and yes, it wld be helpful to know what country you are in.

greets - henry

Paul,

What tracert is telling you is that you are not blocked as you can actually get to Legalsounds as the last line is showing:
14 128ms 111ms 113ms legalmedia2.legalsounds.com [83.22.6.245]
which is their server.

Also you say Firefox seems to load the site but with a blank page. Are you using any banner add blocking in your security software? I found that Kaspersky's banner blocking can cause this. If not try loading it in IE or Opera and see if that works.

Traceroute etc - 10-16-2008, 10:22 PM

Ok. I have tried MSIE, and Chrome, and I have also tried checking all the settings I could find in Bit Defender and still can't see the page. I am based in Germany.
I then tried accessing this page on my laptop and it worked. So this makes me think that there must be a setting in Bit Defender somewhere that is stopping the page and the downloader from opening it.
Thanks all for your advice, and if I find out what the problem was I will post it back in case it helps someone else.
Regards
Paul.

Thumbs up Bit Defender - 10-16-2008, 10:57 PM

The problem is that Bit Defender can only be set to have a siongle permission level for all applications or websites. So, I have to manually amend the settings I want for protection to low and then put them back after I have used Legalsounds. Pretty inflexible software I think but better safe than sorry ;-)

Thanks for your help and giving me the ideas I needed to check.

Regards

Paul.

Glad we could have been of help.

As for BitDefender, I have no idea how that works as I use Kaspersky but I would have thought that there must be somewhere that you can create a whitelist of allowed sites.
In Kaspersky there is a Web Traffic section and under the settings for this there is the possibility to add trusted URLs, so perhaps you should look for something like that.
BitDefender has got a forum so there maybe someone there who could help you with this.

Good luck.
