Cool cajun style music - 02-03-2008, 03:12 PM

I have volunteered to help to find some cajun style music for a mardi gras themed party next week and could use some guidance and suggestions in this regard. I have some money left on mp3/sparks and wonder if they have anything that I could use. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

You might want to check out Doug Kershaw. Very popular and well known fiddle player.
You may also want to search for Zydeco music. Similar and also good.

I got an album called "Cajun Soul" be a guy called Eddie LeJeune. Must admit it's a bit of an acquired taste

I am not a great Cajun expert - I prefer traditional music from the UK but look out for Beausoleil and Buckwheat Zydeco but the best Cajun/Zydeco for a party I reckon would be Queen Ida (and her Bon Temps Zydeco Band). You just have to listen to her Bad Moon Rising! If you have problems finding any - PM me.

Those selected by Elfcall are all excellent choices and the best of Zydeco.

Let me add Clifton Cheneir--Boozoo Chavis--Beau Jocque

I appreciate all of your suggestions. I listen to many styles of music but admit to knowing little of the cajun music. Thanks again, all of you for your input.
