The next one to look out for is from a young Welsh lady named Duffy. Her album "Rockferry" is due on March 3rd

Does she have any relation to Stephen TinTin Duffy, who was a band member of Duran Duran before they got famous (he in fact formed the band with his buddy: John Taylor) - and then had a huge hit with "Kiss Me" in February/March/April of the best year the music scene has ever witnessed: 1985

I suddenly remembered that Stephen TinTin Duffy is now one of the producers of Robbie Williams and that Robbie in fact rerecorded "Kiss Me" and put it on his best album to date: Rudebox (even if many of you probably wouldn't agree with me on that) - and I do have and like all his albums

I have now counted the many different versions I have of "Kiss Me"

I have the 7" single from February 1985, two different 12" singles (4 versions of the song) - one from February and one from March 1985.

And on my hard drive I have a whopping fifteen (15 ) versions of the song

Found this piece of interesting music history regarding Stephen TinTin Duffy and his period as part of Duran Duran (on WikiPedia):

Quote:
In 1999, Duffy found a tape recording of 1978-1979 (pre-Simon Le Bon) Duran Duran music in storage; shortly after, he had a chance meeting with Nick Rhodes, Duran Duran's keyboardist. Reminiscences led to a desire to collaborate, and they ended up re-recording the music on the tape. They did not change any of the lyrics, and used only late-70s-era instruments, but brought modern production techniques to the project. The result was the quirky album Dark Circles, released under the name The Devils.

No, Solaris, not related in anyway but thanks for the intresting diversion down that increasingly familiar road (where you are concerned ) of 1980's music

It's a shame you don't live in the UK. We have a brilliant new TV series just started (a spin off from a similar, unique, earlier creative "called Life on Mars"). The new series is called "Ashes to Ashes" and features a police Psychologist who, after a shooting, is in a coma but an active part of her brain transports her to believe she has taken the role of a senior police officer in a 1980's London Metropolitan police force. The programme has some fun plots but the great element is it is liberally sprinkled with 1980's iconography, music & reference.

Shame you can't get it really
