If you like ____, you may wanna try ____ - 12-20-2007, 04:25 AM

OK. Here's the deal. I'm always looking for new artists to listen to, but I also happen to like my current music collection. I have seen these comparable charts before for different items, but I'm seeking a compaprable chart for music groups or artists.
For instance, I love REO Speedwagon. So I would suggest to anyone else that likes them, "If you like REO Speedwagon, you may wanna try Shooting Star."
OK so here is one to help me with. The Jeff Healey Band. I'm looking for a comparable sounding group.
So in this case someone would write, "If you like The Jeff Healey Band, you may wanna try WHO DO YOU SUGGEST?"
I think it would be great if we could recommend new music to one another like this. Anyone else game?

It will soon become obvious from my suggestions that I am a huge AOR/melodic rock genre fan. I love all the groups like Foreigner, REO, Journey, Styx, Night Ranger, etc.

So here's my next suggestion:
If you like Survivor, you may wanna try Harlan Cage. Harlan Cage is fronted by Larry Greene. In the early 80's Larry was fronting another group called Fortune. Unfortunately, (no pun intended) they only released one album which was self-titled. Listening to Harlan Cage today is virtually the same as listening to Fortune though.
I'm having a hard time finding Harlan Cage albums online however. CD Baby has a few of them, but I'm not fond of their prices.

Here's another one real quick, "If you like Sammy Hagar(solo) or with Van Halen (Van Hagar), you may wanna try Paul Sabu." I've got Paul's album, Heartbreak and there's a few songs that I'll hear and think it is Sammy Hagar singing (which to me is a good thing). Paul Sabu also fronts a group called Only Child which is good too.

OK, here is another request from another genre for someone to help me with. I love The Pet Shop Boys. So who would you suggest as similar to them?

By the way, thanks Nightfly for the suggestion of David Hole as someone similar to Jeff Healey Band. I'll give him a listen and see what I think.

If you love Pet Shop Boys why not try Erasure or the Commundards.
