Red face Jeff Healey dies of cancer at age 41 - 03-04-2008, 03:42 PM

It's now been almost 48 hours since I read this saddening story the first time - and since none of you guys have even mentioned it yet, it simply must be because it has somehow escaped your attention

I will always associate the blind Canadian blues guitarist, Jeff Healey, with the quite underrated 1989 movie "Road House" (starring Patrick Swayze).

His genre of music really wasn't my thing - but I bet since many of you guys are vastly better than I am at judging if a musician is bad, good or great, you will also be more qualified at judging if he belonged to the first, second or third category

I did hear about this on another site and could not believe it.

I wasn`t into his music but the guy was obviously a very talented guitarist and overcame huge obstacles in his life to become a musician.

So sad to be taken at such a young age.

Note: This is the second time I have posted this story - what happened to it the first time is beyond me

I am truly saddened to here of his passing. He was a very unique guitarist
for the way he played the guitar on his lap but he always played with power and conviction.Being a blind person he was a inspiration to all ,that anything is possible if you set your mind and goals to it..He is a guitar legend who will be missed.
Thank you Solaris for bringing this to our attention..I will go play some of his
music now, specifically his rocking version of "Roadhouse Blues"

I always liked his version of "I think I love you too much" from the Hell to Pay CD. Also the version of Confidence Man from the Evil Blues Live CD. The guy could definately play.

My word! That's the first I've heard of this and I am truly saddened. Healy was a huge talent and he made the guitar sing and weep. I have a couple of his albums and towards the end of the 20th century, he, Gary Moore and Robert Cray were responsible for a huge resurgence of classic blues guitar music.

RIP.
