Have you ever tried playing your mp3 player on the totally random setting (no exclusions) and just seeing what comes out? Tried this for the first time tonight and decided to rate each of the first 10 songs to see if my ipod is full of crap or good stuff. I know this is a bit arbitrary, but a score of 7+ counts as a good song.
Artist - song (from album) - score out of 10.
This is what I got: -
(1) Genesis - Dusk (from Trespass) - 6
(2) Blur - Top Man (from The Great Escape) - 7.5
(3) Bob Dylan - Just Like A Woman (from Blonde on Blonde) - 9.5
(4) The Kinks - Mr. Churchill Says (from Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire)) - 8
(5) Pink Floyd - A Great Day For Freedom (from The Division Bell) - 4
(6) The Olivia Tremor Control - The Opera House (from Music From The Unrealized Film Script) - 7
(7) Fairport Convention - Tam Lin (from Sense Of Occasion) - 8
(8) The Great Meat Pie - Early Learning Centre (from Childrens Top 100) - 2
(9) Van Morrison - Warm Love (from Best Of Van Morrison) - 10
(10) The Reindeer Section - Grand Parade (from Son Of Evil Reindeer) - 8.5
Percentage of good stuff - 70%
So unless a maths teacher or someone is going to tell me different, this mean my music collection is 30% crap .
Anyone else want to give it a try? (no cheating)
Cheers,
Dave C

I like your random selection. "Just like a woman" is one of my all-time favourites.

As for my own, I could have sworn My music was 100% "GOOD".... But then Frunze tainted it with French Rap. Now I am starting to have doubts

Anyway - here's my random sample. Just song and artist names. Not gonna rate them here...

Prince - Fury
Les Miserables Original Broadway Cast - "On My Own"
White Stripes - "It's true That we love one another"
The Kooks - Jackie Big Tits
The Supremes - Baby Love
Metallica - No Leaf Clover
Mica Paris - Baby Angel
Old and in the Way - Midnight Moonlight
Etta James - Sunday Kind of Love
Duran Duran - White Lines

I'm a totally mutt as far as my music tastes go - as easily witnessed by the above. I listen to anything and everything, except country.
