Minnie Driver!! - 08-03-2007, 06:23 PM

Artist :- Minnie Driver
Album :- Seastories

I logged into MM yesterday and to my surprise and great amusement saw an album by released by none other than the marvelous, talented, and beautiful Minnie Driver. The first reaction was a smirk, and then I decided to do a Google search and see what the world has to say about this latest celebrity product diversification project (perfume, clothing, what next?)

To absolutely shock, every single review was tremendously positive. She was praised for both her voice, her budding singer/sonwriter abilities, her well utilized colaborations with the likes of Liz Phair.

I downloaded the album and I am absolutely charmed by it. Her voice is sultry and soft, the music is tinged with folksy flair, the lyrics are smart and colorful. Even its subtle "country-ness" is not in the way of me enjoying most of the songs on this album (and y'all know how much I dislike Country )

Definitely Recommend it!

Hi Vik,

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm just downloading this one and Everything I've Got In My Pocket (2004). Seeing the similar artists links, I think I will like.

So far favourite songs are "London Skies" and "Sorry Baby". I am sure you'll enjoy the album.

Thanks for the recommend.. I must admit I smirked too when I saw
this one....But I will give it a try..she is a wonderful actress, no reason
that she doesn't have the depth to deliver a good song..
I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes..

Thanks,

Nightfly

Thanks, thanks & thanks!!! Really nice. I like both albums. Thanks for let me discover another great singer & songwriter. The beginning of the song Invisible Girl (from Everything I've Got In My Pocket) remembers me Neil Young playing and Aimee Mann singing. By the way, do you know Aimee Mann? Maybe you'd like too.

It's just lovely, I think. She seems to have the depth to compose AND deliver a good song.

I've just downloaded the first album "Everything I've Got In My Pocket", but the new one's already climbing up my iPod's most played charts really fast. Glad I founds something lovely. I've heard of Aimee Mann, but don't have any of her albums. Will check out. Thanks.

This one's the exact opposite of Prince - obviously

But I can see myself listening to both albums for a long time to come.
