When I work at the computer..I agree vocals distract me when I need to concentrate..I listen to Jazz, The Dead and Classical..The trick is not to get
to mellow or you might fall asleep..Even though I have a office you never
know when the boss will make a unwanted visit to say Hi ...that's never pleasant to be caught with your head dropping...lol..

I have to agree with this. I do the same thing when I'm tired or distracted. It's almost like having the music on to ignore helps me focus on my task at hand. It helps me keep my stress down too.

There have been studies about how music has a calming and happy effect on the listener so if you can handle the music being on then I vote go for it! Some people in my office know what I'm working on or how my mood is based on what I'm listening to. I never realized it but I used to always listen to Jason Mraz when I was filing disputes with one of our vendors. It stopped me from getting too frustrated.
