Working Week and Baaba Maal....can't find them? - 09-19-2007, 12:27 PM

Hi, I have used AllOfMP3 and several similar sites for the last 18months in order to build my mp3 library from scratch. I have been looking for Baaba Maal's Firin' Fouta and Working Week's Working Nights, but can't find them on those sites (I even emailed mgmt with my suggestions, but I guess these are fairly old records and may be out of print).

Of course the iTunes store sells them but I refuse to buy from them out of principle! Of course, I could also buy the CD on the internet somewhere but I really want just 2-3 tracks from each CD.

I am very tempted to temporarily sign up to P2P file sharing such as Limewire in the hope that I will find them there but I am also worried that my laptop will explode or something, I have an Apple Mac so I guess I should be relatively safe from cyberspace attacks.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Snowman,

I collect African music and know Baaba Maal's "Firin' Fouta". It is out
of print now..It is to bad because it is his best CD and that's saying a lot coming from such a great artist .. maybe you can get a used copy on Amazon...If I come across it on the internet during my surfing,I will pm you and let you know. But I know of no site that has it right now...and I agree
I don't go to Itunes myself,so I don't know what they have.But I think
that you should wait before you sign up for a p2p.. they most likely wont
even have Baaba Maal and even less likely to have the songs you like
if he was there..and like a box of chocolates, you never know what
you'll get...(things are bad...I'm quoting Forrest Gump.. )

If you have any other African music requests let me know and I'll
try to help.

MusicStack has got four of Baaba Maal's Firin' Fouta listed on CD (starting at $10.79). Link here: Firin' In Fouta Albums, CDs, Vinyl Records and LPs

There are eight of Working Week's Working Nights listed (starting at $14.38). Link here:

Thanks for your replies. I already knew that I can buy these CDs on the internet but I would rather download the few tracks I want than paying $15 for each CD.

$15 x 2 = a Lot of downloads on mp3sparks

What tracks in particular are you looking for?. I just did a search using Limewire (yes I use it from time to time) and it came up with 183 matches for 'Babba Maal'

That's not what we are about here ...

Appreciate it,
