Just a personal suggest for recent issues of this kind of music (my taste, plz don't send killer mails if you don't agree).

(random order) Katatonia, Porcupine Tree, Odawas, Wilderness, Cowboy Junkies, Mute Math.
Ciao

I know quite a few people who enjoy Mute Math, though I'd never heard of them until about six months ago. I've never listened, but I think I will. I'll let you know what I think.

Agree with you Harold on Porcupine Tree, had not heard any of their stuff, and now I have, I've downloaded the lot.

If you like Porcupine Tree, try a band called IQ, they have them on AOMP3.

First, thanks for your suggest Acordis, I've listened many previews of IQ (I'm a little out of my mind on this friday night, it's about 3 in the morning) and I found them really interesting: I must say there's very much of Genesis first (Gabriel) era by my point of view, that means I feel I'm hearing something already in me, but I must take my time (and less grappa) to appreciate them clearly.
At the same time I'm listening to last Porcupine Tree work "Fear of a blank planet" and as usual they take me away. I think it's a great album.

I will tell you more about IQ but thanks again in the meanwhile (I didn't know them)
Ciao
