Rather than creating a new topic, thought I'd post here...
Jesca Hoop's Intelligentactile 101 was made free single of the week on iTunes this week, and not getting a very good reception - average rating of 2 stars.
The majority of the British public don't seem to listen to folky/alternative music, hence some groan-inducing/hilarious reviews comparing it to a worse Lily Allen (???), a cat meowing to be fed, "this wierd (sic) alternative has all gone a bit far really", "VERY POOR, VERY POOR INDEED", "Oh my GOD! My ears are hurting!", "generic rubbish", "music to make your ears bleed", and "if this album was done away with society would be a better place to live". I haven't laughed so hard in ages.
Thankfully there are others who give it 4 stars, but it seems the majority of people who use iTunes and download the single of the week are morons.

Maybe people who use iTunes ARE indeed morons (generally speaking of course - and aom3.org forum members obviously excluded from the above assertion )
I'm late to this thread, but in 2007 there wasn't much I liked better than "Boxer" by The National. Sound of Silver and Wincing the Night Away were right up there for me also Knopfler / Crimson and At My Age by Nick Lowe.
I am surprised that no one has yet mentioned the four cd boxset by Megadeth called "War Chest". One of my personal favourites of 2007 to be honest.

Excellent new album by a band / artist I've never heard of before
If it is a "new" album, cannot see it being the "Best Album Release Of 2007"?

I never bother reading the title of a thread before posting
No problem Barney, be first in the queue when the thread for "Best Album Release of 2008" starts.
Nightfly,
You are awful, but I like you, as Dick Emery used to say.
