Oh hell!

I was expecting your post and just, today, loaded all my half favourite albums of 2008 into a play list to listen on my way to Japan tomorrow. I was hoping to be able to reply to your post as soon as you made it but I guess I'll need another 7-10 days grace
Ah well, whatever, I'm still better prepared than I was last year

Not the most impressive year in new music. I wasn't terribly impressed with second rollout from the Fratellis and Gnarls Barkley. Coldlplay was just ok. I also liked the new British "Lauren Hill" named Estelle. Some tracks from Panic at the Disco and The Feeling were good. The Kooks' new album is growing on me still. Wasn't impressed at first listen. B-52s Funplex is brilliant. More of the same ol' party. Lenny Kravits' new album is brilliant. For me the highlight of this year is Duffy and Tina Dico

Sorry, mine was with no preparation. Just musings.

Certainly 10 of Dave's 21 will make it into my top 20 and I think The Indelicates may be somewhere in the top 5 as will LDK

I look forward to seeing your list when you get back from the land of the rising sun. Remember to lay off the saki and raw fish.
NB. If it were not for you, I would probably never have heard of Lonely Drifter Karen

Hi Nightfly, thanks - well sort of

I hadn't been for two years and then go two times in the space of two months. Personally I'd rather be staying here but I guess once I get there and munch a few sticks of yakitori it'll be OK

The raw fish is fine when it's dead, however when they take a live fish and 'carve it up' at the table whilst it's still breathing is a bit barbaric
Then there's when you have tiny fish that are lying still on a bed of ice 'cept they're not dead just stunned - best to chew quickly

Thanks and likewise The Indelicates

Methinks I've lost total and complete interest in sushi
