The Persian Rugs - 04-08-2008, 02:49 AM

I was on vacation last week and spent a lot of the time catching up on some music that I d/l and hadn't listened to yet. The Persian Rugs are basically the Aussie band, The Hoodoo Gurus, with a new moniker. Both their "Mr. Tripper" EP and the cd "Turkish Delight" aren't for everyone. You have to have owned and loved one of the old Nuggets compilations to appreciate their attempt to revive the old 60's psychedelic garage band sound. With the cheesy organ and fuzzy guitars, their cds are fun to listen to and it's obvious the band had a lot of fun making them.

So....if The Seeds, The Electric Prunes, The Thirteenth Floor Elevators, etc bring back fond memories for you like they do for me, then give them a try.
