I've always been a big fan of Timbaland. He's proven himself over the years as an excellent producing, working with artists such as Missy Elliot, Allayiah, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado etc... He seems to always hit the spot when it came to coming up with new beats/hooks. Always coming up with something and always hit that spot.
Thats why when I heard heard that he was releasing a solo album, I already had thoughts of what the album would be like. The period leading up to the release of his album, his behaviour and general character on media interviews only reassured what my pre-views of the album were. He came across as cocky and arrogant, repeating that his album was the greatest thing ever.
When it came to listening to the album, I had mixed thoughts.
Each song had a good beat/hook, with only one that was below average. There are some really good tracks on the album (e.g. Give It To Me, Bounce, Kill Yourself, Miscommunication).
But Timbaland's solo album isn't like his previous work. With this album he came full force with a huge hammer, packing in as much as possible. Whereas previously, it felt as if he worked 100% on individual tracks, perhaps a lesser work load.
But I would still recommend this album to hip hop, r'n'b fans. It won't disappoint and will even impress you with some of the rare tracks that offer that traditional timbaland touch.
