AllTunes deactivated? - 07-06-2007, 11:08 PM

Just this morning I was able to purchase & download music with AllTunes. Later, I could connect but not purchase (when I tried to order, the ensuing popup window would be blank), and now I cannot even connect.

Haven't been able to reach allofmp3.com or mp3sparks.com

I've seen that you all are full of optimism that allofmp3 is invincible but ... has it been this bad before?

yes. I've the same problem. I'd say allofmp3 / mp3sparks / alltunes are dead for good. I've been a member since 2004 and although sometimes their website was a little slow, it has never been offline longer than a couple of days (but never weeks).

I guess the reason why some people here are so optimistic is, because they know that if allofmp3 is dead indeed, their forum is dead too. So it wouldn't matter anyway. Therefore, they have nothing to lose by being optimistic. Part of it might also be because they simply want to believe in it, which is a good thing

This may or may not be true. I agree there does seem to be quite a bit of overoptimism in these forums, however:

- the alltunes.com web site is still up
- download.alltunes.com still resolves and responds
- catalogs and catalog updates are downloadable, they just error out

I can't vouch for the existence of Memphis Members, but if it's still around, I think it's too early to call it quits on everything.

That said, I am reaching the limit of my frustrations, now that allTunes is down, too. I was RIGHT in the middle of listening to an album that I was about to purchase, too.

Indeed - 07-06-2007, 11:27 PM

Just search Google News for allofmp3 and I think you'll find the answer to whether or not it's dead for good.

Pretty nifty, though, to pull the plug on the front-end server and leave the back-end server open to connections from the alltunes app! Got my account down to $3

Welcome poodoo,
We are not optimistic for the reasons you stated, many of us here have
a great deal of knowledge and experience in this matter and make these
optimistic statements based on well just trying to give people hope
and our past experinces...and No the forum is Not dead if allofmp3
dies...life goes on and will be here the next day looking for creative options
to find No DRM infected files..please look around this site which I don't believe
you have as yet ..because this site is about OPTIONS of all kinds..
and we are generally optimistic by nature.....and that is the real good thing.

Welcome,
Nightfly

Hi poodoo54.

I'm having a real hard time believing that you have been even a relatively frequent user of AllOfMP3 since 2004. I can vividly remember two major server problems, which kept AllOfMP3 down and out for 3-4 weeks.

Even if you were right (which I'm 99.99 % sure you're not), this forum would be an excellent place to look for alternative stores, which provides music without the evil twin of Satan (DRM)

may I ask what you mean by that? Has anyone inside information or something? I've been using allofmp3 since 2004 - long before their trouble started...

MM is still working perfectly (adding to the balance works fine aswell).
Cheers,

I've been using allofmp3 several times per week to listen to new stuff so I would know. There was a downtime at the beginning of this year (when they moved their servers to the Ukraine and back).
Another downtime / partially working site was in May 2006. But that was it. There might have been minor downtimes that lasted less than 1 day. Even on those major downtimes, they never lasted longer than a week.

on that one I actually agree. However, I won't spend any money unless there is something similar to allofmp3. I want on demand encoding from lossless sources. So far, none of the allofmp3 clones are worthwhile for me. They tend to have the exact same files you can find one torrent / P2P networks.
