allTunes and mp3Sparks song samples... - 07-04-2007, 02:44 AM

...it appears that changes are taking place.

allTunes (until today) would let your review/sample the entire song (something I like a lot).

mp3Sparks would only let you review 30 secs. of the song.

As of today (or, as best I can tell it was today), allTunes is now only allowing you to review 30 secs. sample of a song... the sample line indicator shows the music is continuing on some selections but there is no sound... while with other songs, the line stops and indicates the music has stopped.

Hmmm.... allTunes is become more like mp3sparks... unfortunately, it appears that music reviews will only include the first 30 secs. of the song... which (in many cases) doesn't even indicate the value of a song.

I wished they had decided to allowed complete review of a song to be the choice of sampling a song for both sites.

FWIW

Update... it appears the 30 sec. limit of music sampling is haphazard in allTunes... some songs are 30 sec. limited and others are not... And, some will play for 30 secs. stop... start over... and the sampling will go for the complete length of the song... Or, only 30 sec segments are played at a time for entire length of the song. Again... a work in process seems to be occuring at allTunes. Now if they could work on allowing refills of your balance.

I think you might be experiencing some sort of glitch.

I can preview entire songs on Alltunes. I haven't tried on mp3sparks though. Maybe give it some time and try again later??

I hope your right... but, for the past few hours... the music sampling has been working predominately on a 30 sec. basis.

Maybe later allTunes will be back to normal ... at least for me.

When downloading a song sample from sparks (I often need to do this because the flash preview player doesn't work on this 64-bit linux machine), I got 1:32 of a 3:40 song...

And the MP3Sparks server is currently unreachable indeed.

Hi Schlitz.

MemphisMember is still up and running so don't worry about Sparks - they'll be up again soon

I found that if I didn't log into Alltunes I got a 30 second blast of any song. Once logged in i could preview the whole tune.

Don't know if that helps??
