Any Video sites? - 03-07-2008, 05:06 PM

Looking to purchase high quality music videos (not movies so much!) Anyone know of a site that offers them?

Great question, for all of us NON IPOD people
I have about 5 programs to convert, or capture vids off the net, or convert Itunes vids. none really work well. YOu would think with Zune, someone would have done something. But alas, it appears Zune may not be long for this world either

Fellow Zune owner? Yay!

As for music videos, the choice for getting them is a bit annoying. If there was a digital store I could buy them all, I would like a shot. But I have to go to other means.

This blog post has info about downloading Youtube videos as mp4s directly from Youtube, so you could do this with music videos (I have downloaded tons from the Universal channel).
Download YouTube Videos as MP4 Files

If you see Windows Media Player streams of music videos, and are able to right click them to see the .asx link, you can save them to your computer using VLC media player. You can then rename them to WMV, and they're fine. I did that with the latest September video and now have it on my computer in glorious 1000kbps video.

I also check out videos from the people who make them, e.g. Colonel Blimp - Directors
They post lower quality videos that are easier to download, you can just right click and save as.

Otherwise, I check out two blogs. One is this: MusicVidz with You - by Yang

The other is this: No fat clips!!!

I have no idea if these sites are legal or not (I only used a minute or so searching for and pasting the below links) but here we go:

http://music.pluggedin.com
http://www.kovideo.net
http://www.urbanmvp.com
http://www.blastro.com
http://www.videosta.com
http://www.tommytv.com

A good bet is that if some of these sites are considered "legal" by the MAFIAA all their music videos will be both DRM'ed to oblivion and heavily regional discriminating (so you HAVE to be American to watch and/or buy the stuff)

Once you have established the ones that are considered legal - choose one or more of the others, since they definitely will be the customer friendly ones

Hmm, I just checked a couple of those sites and they don't seem to be download sites, just flash viewing...
