Unhappy Clearing up some confusion - 04-20-2008, 05:55 AM

Back in early February I posted a thread thanking the Allofmp3 Community Forum for saying that they hadn't heard from me for a while. I spend very, very little time on forums and expressed my thanks and that I could now access MP3Sparks at the time. What followed was quite a bit of banter about my comment thanking them for keeping me in the loop and numerous people took my sincere thank you as being a cheap shot.

A quote from one of the members states, "I would say, Solaris, that Martinman's ditty was meant with bitter irony and strong satirical lament!". Sorry to disappoint anyone, but I'm not a person who lives a life spent in finding bitterness or satirical lament. I don't believe that lends a way to my own personal happiness and fulfillment. Solaris, eventually seemed to support my statement that, yes indeed, I may be able to listen to full length downloads.

If this is how people are going to respond to my contributions to the forum, then I will simply ignore the forum's requests that they haven't heard from me and to come back on and share with others.

I don't know why I could listen to full length downloads before I bought them but for whatever reason, I could. I don't have any extra privileges nor was I dissing anyone or the forum in any manner. How or why anyone would choose to interpret my sincerity in any way less than what it was posted for is beyond me.

I don't fully understand the relationship of this forum to MP3Sparks itself; all I know is that when I received the email I could access Sparks which I couldn't do for months prior. I thought the email was intended to show me I could once again access MP3Sparks. I appreciate the hard work and good will that Solaris provides. But I'm not interested in posting something to be shot down when I genuinely was expressing appreciation.

I don't participate for personal attacks or snide comments about my contributions. I hope that clears up any confusion and if anyone feels the urge to bash this thread, feel free. I choose to spend my time around people who treat me with dignity and respect and will just carry on without being part of the forum.

Sincerely,
Martinman

You could have jumped in then and there and explained what you meant. To me, it looks fairly obvious what you meant (ironic posts tend to not have smilies in them!, but sometimes people jump the shark on a post's meaning - especially if they're very well learned in English but foreign nevertheless. Whenever I make a post in any forum, I usually check sometime after posting it just to see its reception.

Come back when you feel the need to, or not at all if that's what you want, but it seems unfair to jump back here several months later, make judgement calls over a mistake and then alienate yourself from here completely again without giving yourself and the forum the chance to get back to a good relationship again. I'm sure if you'd just posted in that topic pointing out your intent, people would hold their hands up and apologise.

Hi Martinman

I'm sorry that you don't feel you've been made welcome here. Thanks for your comments.

At the time you posted on 2/2/2008,many people couldn't add to their account balance with sparks. But you could?
Understandably,you didn't know that because

But now that you do,read your own post of 2/3/2008 over again.
Nobody took your sincere thanks as a cheap shot.
That is only how you had percieved the remarks made, because then you didn't know.
But now you do!

Question Why wait? - 04-20-2008, 05:26 PM

Martinman,

What I do not understand is why you waited three months to reply to something that seems to have upset you, for whatever reason. As has been mentioned, I am sure if you had pointed it out earlier an apology would have been forthcoming.
I belong to a number of forums including Footy ones where almost anything goes, I can assure you this one is easily the most civilised of any I belong too, the Mods make sure of that.

Smile Clearing up some confusion - 04-20-2008, 07:09 PM

I can understand why people wondered why I waited three months and that's a fair question. The answer is simply that I don't really engage in forums very often. At that time, I just wanted to say thank you for what I thought was an email letting me know in a subtle way that I could use MP3Sparks again.

I only discovered that comment last night while I was trolling around the website as I hadn't been on for a while. I appreciate those who support me and can see I meant no disrespect and to those who helped bring me to light why people would wonder why I waited three months. I didn't jump back on because I never thought my comments would create any confusion.

So, I've learned from my mistake of not checking the forum once I've posted something; hence my immediate reply today. I'm pleased there's lots of good people out there who understood my comment and showed me the importance of checking anything you post.

Thanks to all for your kindness and to those who pointed out how unfair it looks to jump back in three months later to respond. Point well taken and a lesson learned. I'm always humbled to see and hear how many good people there are in the world.

Well done for being big enough to apologize and admit your mistake.
We always try to be as helpful as we can on here, but there is also a certain humour that keeps the forum from becoming too serious.

You will find many helpful people, and plenty of information here if you decide to stick around.

Thanks Martinman for returning to post this Hope you pop back now and again, it's nice to see an openly genuine person here (not that the forum isn't teeming with genuine people either!)
