Well ...... guess that is it then.

allofmp3 gone and no way to fund an account at mp3sparks.

All I ever get is 'Invalid user name' if I try my allofmp3 password on mp3sparks and 'Sorry you cannot pay by credit card' if I create a new account.

I've read the threads ..... followed the advice ....... and always finished up banging my head against the same old brick wall.

Maybe its my fault for being dumb, not reading Russian or living in the UK. Who knows ..... life seems too short for worrying about this any longer

I give in ...... I surrender ...... well done to the RIAA

I'm off to wander cyberspace and try and find someone else who loves my money and is inventive enough to let me spend it with them

Sad ...... but thanks allofmp3 for what you did manage to achieve and best of luck to the chosen (or lucky) few who will be able to carry on using mp3sparks. Maybe I'll bump into you on some passing bandwidth

Hey lightweight...no reason to leave us.. we can still offer you good advice
on alternate sites, where they will be glad to take your money and give you service....and no more head banging

and maybe with some more fooling around and patience you might even fin a way to fund your old friend

Aren't we being a little theatrical now

You have a t least two options:

1. You wait for AllOfMP3.ru to come back up in a few days.

2. Try one or more of the excellent alternatives here: http://www.aom3.org/forum/f11/ (like Nightfly suggested)

When you gain access to AllOfMP3.ru, then be sure to use the Tor/Vidalia/FireFox trick to fund your account - and remember to switch off Tor, when you reach the actual payment site

Thanks guys but I'm too old ..... too technically retarded ....... for all this TOR/Firefox stuff. I've only just worked out what the 'Start' button does on my desktop! I'm sure there are ways and means to fund allofmp3.ru and maybe even mp3sparks but frankly its all too complicated. When allofmp3 accepted Visa or even xprost vouchers I could fund my account, download a little stuff that had never gotten into my cd collection and enjoy myself. I'm fully aware of other sites and use at least two of them ...... but none of them come close to allofmp3 for ease of use or extent of catalogue. I'll stick around on the forum ..... read and enjoy ...... and maybe I'll one day see a posting saying mp3sparks accepts new accounts AND credit cards.

Solaris is right in that there is no reason to dispair. Tor works on MP3Sparks, there is no question about that. If it isn't working for you then you don't have it set up right and we can probably help you there.

Also another reason not to dispair is that we're entering a new chapter. With the closing of AllofMP3.com some of the heat may be off. Who knows what payment options may be avialable when AllofMP3.ru comes back up.

One caution though. Before it went down, I TRIED Tor on Allofmp3.ru and I had no luck. So I don't know if it is clear whether you can use Tor to pay there or not. Maybe they only take payments from Russia now? I didn't check where my IP was coming from. More experimentation is obviously necessary, but I think we should refrain from saying things like "use Tor to fund your AllofMP3.ru account", when we don't know if that is possible

I kind of fall into the same boat as Dave when it comes to computers. I had a fair old play with the firefox / the Tor thing when the posts about them started (just incase thing go pear shaped with the options which are open to me at the moment) but I could not work it out (the sticking block for me was one of the add-ons which kept trying to associate itself with Netscape??). In the end I gave up because if I'd have carried on the computer would have ended up in the garden,

Are you sure? I just created a new account at mp3sparks, it asked whether I wanted to fund my balance, I chose the credit card option, and it just worked... I only used $10 to see if it worked, and it did! Of course this is just a temporary solution, I hope I'll be able to access my regular account with $30 left soon.

Hi all, I have just registered here.

I was a latecomer to Allofmp3 last December and spent $** up to March 07, when I was cut off.

I have registered at mp3sparks with new details.

My original details are not recognised at sparks and my new account details get in, but am unable to get past the credit card page.

I have also tried the Tor/Vidalia download, but it would not launch on my system, and not knowing or more to the point not being able to sort out why, I gave up.

I will keep trying the 2 allofmp3 addresses, and the 2 accounts on sparks, but I too like Dave am at the end of my tether with this. If it comes back all well and good, if not it was enjoyable while it lasted!

Hopefully the ru site is what I am waiting for, but the Tor download is still baffling considering I tried it a second time with the same problem??
