Logging in to sparks with allofmp3 ID? - 07-13-2007, 10:26 PM

I just saw the sticky update from Solaris that says apparently users can do this, even if they had not gotten the magic transfer link while allofmp3 was still up.

Well, I want to report that apparently not ALL users can do this, because I can't.

Some can. Others cannot. That's been a fact the whole time.

Hi stevenq.

I wrote that you can allegedly do this using Tor and FireFox. I didn't write that every one can just go ahead and log in while smiling

It's necessary to read more than the first two lines of the sticky to fool the log in system at MP3Sparks

Why do you assume I'm stupid and only read the first two lines? I installed Tor etc weeks ago. I read and understood all that stuff. I made a NEW sparks account because I was frustrated that I had not been able to transfer my allofmp3 account, and wanted to get some money in while the Tor thing worked (since there was NO telling how long it would work). I did get some money in to the sparks account using Tor.

I can log in to the mp3sparks account I created manually. I can do this without Tor. But even with Tor, it does not accept my allofmp3 ID.

I knew Tor was needed to do payments. Are you saying there are people who can't even log in without Tor?

Sorry, Steven, I didn't mean to offend you there but I guess that I have just gotten so used to people not reading the advice I try to give them in the MemphisMember Invite Thread.

Read this post by scorpio81: http://www.aom3.org/forum/showthread...=9444#post9444 and you will understand why I wrote the piece of advice in the sticky.

Still friends...?

Honestly, I don't believe it. I think scorpio81 got something wrong, or is misunderstanding what he sees, or is an unusual case. I see no reason why Tor would change the way the login works. They aren't blocking people logging in with Allofmp3 ids via IP. That HAS to be a database flag. Tor isn't going to fix that. Tor DID let me get to MP3Sparks before my own nameserver could find it, but I think that is about all it is going to do for you as far as logging in.

Of course I have tested it, and it makes NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER for me. My AOMP3 logins will not work on Sparks.

Hi Cornutopian.

Thanks, for clearing that up for us

P.S. scorpio81 sounded so convincing

I think it is technically possible to verify the IP address at the time of checking the login/password; however, I think you are right that this is not what happens - my old AllofMP3 account is also not recognized by MP3Sparks - with or without TOR.

Of course. Didn't mean to sound testy. Just this whole thing has me pulling my hair out. I was a customer of allofmp3 for 3 years, and I really wanted that account moved so I could have ONE account. Now I have two, one on sparks and one that works with alltunes, but which I can't add to. Now my balance is split between two different accounts.
