mp3sparks web page -
01-02-2008, 11:28 PM
Hi all, been awhile since I was here. Anyway, I tried to log onto the website as funds are getting low, I am NOT a big user but like to get the odd track now and then that I like. Anyway, when I try to bring the page up, it takes forever, and when it finally is up and loaded (Done), it is not like the old page, it is like a text version of the page without all the HTML formatting.
Here is a snap of what I'm getting, sorry for the snap being so big.
Could this have something to do with all the blocking I am reading about on the forum here. I am in Melbourne - Australia and use a PC with Windows XP and Firefox, IE has the same issue.
Anybody else having a similar effect - Also, Alltunes works fine, but unfortuantley can't seem to top up via there as I can't get hold of any pin codes.
I really like the site mainly for the online encoding, but I have to admit, I am about to look alsewhere as it is getting tiresome. I would really like to use this site however as it is just so user friendly WHEN I CAN LOG IN that is.
For the small amount of music I get compared to others here, it would not be a hardship, but would like to stay here as it has always served me well, and the forum is very helpfull when you have an issue. You don't seem to be flamed and abused if you ask something that might seem stupid to most but is just not obvious to me.
Anyway, enough ranting. Any inside would be helpfull.
Thanks

Hi cage123au and welcome back to the forum
Have you tried to see if you access the site using a proxy?
The real problem is that even if you can do that there's no payment options at all at the moment
So if I were you, I would try out some of the other excellent download stores that we have reviewed on www.RuTunes.com
A few of those (SoundsBox, LegalSounds, GoMusic and CDonPC) have their own downloaders but using Firefox/FlashGot/Free Download Manager can give you download speeds above 2000 KB/sec.

OK - will try that, I was not aware that people where having trouble actually topping up once in. There is a lot of chatter about payments, but it did not seem it was down. Anyway,. thanks for the reply and I will try elsewhere - pity. To bad they can't form a joint partnership with some other sites that are NOT having problems and open up there model and there catalog.

The reason why you're not seeing any formatting is that the 'style' of the site is not being loaded. This style definition resides in a style sheet file, which I think is on a different server than the main page. Sometimes I have the same problem, mostly it's due to the other server being overloaded, or just some connection problems. But it could be possible that in your case, it's due to the IP blocking. There's not much you can do about it, but luckily it's just the appearance that isn't correct. The site should still work if you can figure out where to click

I have to say, though, I mostly come here when there are problems with AOM3/Sparks, so you'd better hope that they won't fix all their problems once and for all

I for one like the excitement and having old friends back to visit..
That's my preference...

Redsmurf, thanks for that..Will try the click and trial approach. Would be much better if they just got with an IP that we could all access and use. They have moved it once before, so know reason why they cannot do it again. Given all the competition they have and potential for loss of customers who in the end just give up.
