Novice question? - 07-07-2007, 12:05 AM

Hi,

My first post, hope everyone is well and not too frustrated with the allofmp3/mp3sparks situation currently!

Reading some of the other posts on this site encourages me that the site will be hopefully back up soon (ish) in some guise or other. But in the meantime, some of the other download sites mentioned on here look interesting (mp3 fiesta, legalsounds), but I believe I can only download as mp3 format?

So..Technical Question from a not very technical person??
I've only used allofmp3sparks for just a few months. I save music as WMA files, then add into my itunes library letting itunes convert to their format to play on my ipod.

If I download music from one of the above sites as an mp3 file, can I still convert to an 'itune' and use in the normal way?

Thanks in advance.

Mark

Itunes recognizes mp3 format. there is not need to use the "itune format"

Absolutely. A better way to accomplish this is to buy/download your tracks in mp3 format and let iTunes simply organize your music library.

iTunes and iPod plays AAC and MP3 files natively, while it converts WMA files to AAC files, which makes it worse.

Download with MP3, or better, AAC at the same bitrate as you do WMA. You will be amazed at how good it sounds.

a little bit OT but as a lot of people seem to be using iTunes...

Some time ago I've found a great program out there called MediaMonkey which mimics iTunes quite well (in fact I think it surpasses iTunes in some areas).

It even offers iPod Sync (and other MP3 Players as well) without having to use iTunes, although I have not tried how good this works.
