I know, Dreamy! Of course I know that you have no way of knowing!

I just mean you can't seem to make up your mind about that warning on Sparks - again giving them the benefit of the doubt.

You didn't seem to feel that way when you started this thread yesterday.

It is interesting that such an "important" message only comes up after you log in. It is clearly not meant for the casual window shopper. Also, If I were the mp3 sparks administrator and I hated this site enough to post such a stern and specific warning, I would put pressure on this site to cease and desist discussing my business completely. Why pick and choose trivial items such as uploading music which anyone who logs in can see is no longer an option. Frankly, I do not see why anyone would want to upload music to their site. The logic does not follow in my mind.

Conversely, if I ran this site and was accused of something that I was not guilty of by a business I championed, I would be very reticent to oblige their selective censorship.

The logic does not follow which suggests there is more politics behind the scene than meets the eye.

yet i don't really know why there is such an excitement about this site. their catalogue cannot beat (and even cannot be compared with) several other stores. Is it "320kbps" myth that makes people hold their breathes about sparkie ?
At least for me, its the flexibility in formats. I am very picky when it comes to sound quality and mp3s just don't cut it for me anymore. I can get higher quality with the same or lower bitrate with a different format. Sparks lets me choose exactly the format and quality I want. The alltunes downloader is also a big plus as it makes finding and downloading songs very easy (much better than the sparks site or even iTunes). There is only the occasional song that I can't find on there, but usually I won't be able to find it anywhere else either.

Interesting thought. They say there's no such thing as bad publicity, so why not?

I don't believe this is a case of "bad publicity" vs. "good publicity",
because THEY are the ones benefitting from OUR bad plublicity, not US.

Meanwhile, it is US "bending over" right now, not THEM.

Did they all of a sudden remove the "WARNING ALERT! www.aom3.org is controlled by IFPI and RIAA lobby. Be careful about the information you leave at this site"-message from their site?

Oh, no, they didn't... So why are we taking orders from these guys...?

As I said, I think there is a bit of politics going on here which we are not going to find out about (or AOM3 would have to shoot us)

It's been a long time

We are also benefiting because while it says something bad about the site, it may make people look into the site and possibly join. This is similar to the way that I found out about allofmp3.com originally - it was from the riaa saying something bad about them.
