Outrage at apparent UK blocking - 01-08-2008, 08:11 PM

This is absolutely diabolical, what right does anyone have to determine what sites as a grown adult and paying consumer I am able to access.

I have just been on to my ISP (Zen Internet) I'm in the UK by the way and asked them about this issue and they traced it to Cogent as well.

They say they have elevated it to a stage two technical issue and will be calling me back tomorrow, wahoo, call the thunderbirds. Lets see what they say.

As far as I'm aware were not doing anything illegal by using these sites although I could be corrected on this by other members of very helpfull community.

As pointed out by the senior members of this forum before, the block of AllOfMP3/MP3Sparks was kind of self-inflicted, as they moved their IP to a spam host in Turkey which is blocked by various ISPs for *good* reason.

If you put all of this together - the supposedly self-inflicted block, the downtime of Cmpass and AllPay, temporary suspension of credit card payment, there must be something "bigger" going on.

It seems to me that they just *had* to move their IP out of Russia, which might be for the same reason that Cmpass and Allpay, both being hosted in Russia and probably run by the same company, had to suspend their service. And, finally, what's about the sudden and lasting downtime of mp3.ua? Although claiming to be Ukrainian-based and using an Ukrainian payment processor in the past, this site was and is hosted in Russia, but they apparently had no license with either ROMS or NP-FAIR, since allegedly there is no corresponding organization in the Ukraine.
