Paying MP3Sparks - 01-25-2008, 10:57 PM

I am wondering whether the current impossibility to refill one's balance on MP3Sparks is universal. MP3S seems to operate quite happily, adding new albums at its usual rate and so on, but if none of its users can add money to their balance, logic suggests that at some point nobody will be able to use the service anymore. Unless *some* people still can pay them?

Hi koenfucius

Nice to see you again

I'm not convinced that applying logic to this is useful. One might think that if there is a way of paying, someone would have reported it here by now. The nearest we've come to that is Aom3 offering a $50 Sparks credit as a competition prize - you might like to have a quiet word in his ear

Likewise - I have been around, but too busy to engage in too much wibble.

Oh, I think it would be unfair to all the other contestants if I were to enter the competition.

I guess the real question is: what is behind MP3S's inability to accept any kind of payment at all, considering that it is hard to see how it would be in their interest to offer a service that cannot be bought?

Hi! I live in South Africa & have been unable to refill my SPARKS balance for the last 2 weeks or more. What country are you in?
I've been using soundsbox.com in the interim; it's cheaper but the bit-rate is much slower & so the sound quality isn't as good. The catalogue isn't as extensive. Download procedure is a bit complicated until you get the hang of it.

What other sites are there that offer 320kbps quality?

I'm in the UK, but as far as I know this time it seems to be unrelated to the country - nobody can get it to work.

Particularly annoying as I just noticed I wasted some of my fast dwindling credit downloading an album from MP3Sparks that I had already downloaded three months ago, but put on an external disk and erased from my main machine...

Am I the only person who's come across an album on mp3sparks (or anywhere else), downloaded and then found it is already in thier copy of i-tunes when they come to add it . Must have done this two or three times atleast,
Cheers,
Dave C

I have bought plenty of albums, only to see them later at the local library.

Has anyone determined with absolute certainty that their catalog is originally encoded at 320Kbps and NOT just resampled from lower bitrate originals? The reviewer expressed the same concern--I am surprised no one has looked into it.

Hi Mp3junk1E, in a word 'no' but nothing in life is 100% I supose there's no absolute cast iron guarantee that what Sparks claims is 320kbps really is although we have no reason to seriously question their claim..

All we can say is that when Millisong first came on the scene they were interrogated quite extensively by members with more knowledge that me and whilst it wasn't proved that the music was 320 there was certainly no evidence that it had been resampled from a lower bitrate.

I guess, in the end, the ears have it. No one, that I am aware of, having used Millisong has had any complaint as to the sound quality of music they have bought from them.

It can't hurt to give them a go and see for yourself what the sound quality is like.
