RuTunes recommends? - 03-27-2008, 11:05 AM

My balance is becoming very low at MP3Sparks and like others here I can not refill so I am looking around for another site. I went to RuTunes to look but the sites I looked at were confusing to me. I do not mind that some only are in English interface- I can get through that- but I like to check catalogue first before signing up and none I have tried I have been able to find Russian catalogue and Russian music is not intermixed in same catalogue with European-American?
Can anyone make recommendations to me of which sites have best selection of Russian music and how I reach the catalogue? I even tried transliteration thinking it was maybe set up like my AllTunes was but this does not seem to be the case either. I just need to know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks-

Aleksandr

I found nothing of that sort. All are targeted towards American/European music.

Hi,

Check out mediaclub. here you can browse without signing on. they have a large selection of Russian music of all genres (with a slight bias towards metal) and the interface can be changed from English to Russian. the site has no downloader, so use Flashget or similar to make downloading easier.

Hi-

Thank you for the info. I signed up and payment seemed easy enough- credit card or Paypal. I did Paypal- it seemed to go through fine I am just waiting for confirmation. But I want to thank you again- it seems to be just exactly what I was looking for and is fine if they have a slight bias towards metal because so do I

Hi Aleksandr

Since you seem to live in (or somewhere near) Moscow couldn't we talk you into swinging by the offices of MP3Sparks and ask them personally, when (or if) they'll start accepting payments again - or just to report if it looks like there's any activity going on there at all

Do you think they can still afford to run an office?

Or would they be getting down to their last few roubles by now with no payments for 3 months (and counting)

And another thought, when the postman delivers their post, do they say "thanks for the delivered inconveniences"

Iomoio has Russian music. Typically, as I have responded before, you'll have better luck with Ukrainian sites because of the intellectual property laws. Mp3sugar also has tons of russian music. You may have to type in Russian though. I am too lazy to look stuff up, but if you need to get your computer to type in Russian with the letters located in the same place as English (ie. a = a, c = s, б = b) you need to have a transliterated keyboard. Mac offers that without a hitch; for Windows option, you need to type "russify" in your friendly google window and watch the links pop up that will offer to give you an additional keyboard choice, where you'll launch an exe file that will install the extra keyboard into your registry, after that cyrillic typing is a snap.

I live in Moscow but at this time I am in NY in USA. I will not be back to Moscow until June-July. To tell truth I did not know they even had office in Moscow? Do you know the address? In a few months time I may be interested to go there myself
On the side I also want to mention here Paypal went through fine and I am downloading songs with no problems at very reasonable price. Just some info here in case anyone is interested in this site- it does seem to be a very good alternative to MP3Sparks until they can get themselves straighted out in the payment situation anyway....Thanks again Damo!

Thanks,
Our "RUSSIAN FRIENDS"? It's backwards - if it weren't for them, we would be buying $0.99 DRM-infested itunes files. It's they who rule this particular journey imho.

Russian music enthusiasts, unite.
