So, is AllofMP3 dead - 06-24-2007, 01:54 AM

Subject says it all, but was curious if it is worth holding onto that account if it looks like I cannot ever top it up again. Many people here seem to be in the know, so I was just curious.

I have sparks, so I'm happy, do not purchase enough to go to MM, but that is OK, this one suits my needs just fine, as long as I can keep topping up as needed.

Any feedback would be grateful.

Mike

hello,
i dont think aomp3 will be dead anytime soon. im sure maybe sometime in the future. once you transfer your account to sparks your aomp3 account is deactivated. so maybe eventually aomp3 will be obsolete. not sure though.
thanks ,
chad

Maybe if we have some Russian guys with us, they could tell us, if they are being transferred to Sparks aswell - if not: then it would make sense that they have changed their official name to AllOfMP3.ru.

Maybe it is to emphasize that they ARE in Russia, where they are operating legally under current law. .com is kind of associated with the USA (in the UK for example they have .co.uk). While anyone can use a .com domain, there is a certain assumption that it is an American thing. Hardly any Americans use .us. We kind of appropriated the original .com, gov, .org, and .edu TLDs. I guess that isn't surprising since the whole thing started out as a US defense project.

So anyway, I am guessing that it is about emphasizing their Russian-ness as part of their PR campaign. It isn't like changing the domain to .ru keeps anyone else from accessing it. It just tells you immediately where they are. I think that has to be the point. Otherwise, if they wanted AOMP3 to become a "Russian Only" site, then why not just drop the English pages and not worry about the URL, which doesn't really matter, after all.

If you haven't gotten your invite to sparks, then log onto allofmp3.ru. You can refill through that site.

Nightfly,

Did you try with Tor? I wonder if that would work.

Yes Cornutopian... I can get in with Tor through new Sparks Acct.. but had no offer from allofmp3 to transfer to sparks from original acct..I could care less..lol..as long as..I can put a piece of change in any of the sites ..Im fine..the key is to just enjoy what you have....Thanks for asking..
But I was responding to the claim of allofmp3.RU
in particular.. to the claim that if you go there(from US) you can automatically get
in...not so for everyone...as psuedosuedes stated ,and not to get others hopes up.

Heh, yes, I know what you were responding to. That is what I was asking you about. Had you tried AllofMP3.ru with TOR was the question. I KNOW you can fund a sparks account that way. I was thinking that if some people could pay on AOMP3.ru that it would be likely that others could also pay that way if they used TOR, since the functionality must exist for some IPs (unlike on AllofMP3.com, where NOBODY can pay TOR or not).

However after I wrote that, I tried TOR myself without success, so I guess it isn't just an IP block at work there.

TOR? Sorry - I'm just a slow old-fashioned guy. Can someone fill in the gaps?
