What do I do? - 05-30-2007, 12:27 PM

What do I (and those reading this like me) who used and enjoy allofmp3.com do if we don't meet the MM criteria. I only spent $40 on the site mainly due to payment options slowly being removed. I have been a member since March 06. I check my balance page in allofmp3.com but still don't see the "move to sparks" button.
Why is $300 the minumum for MM? Is it thought that those who haven't downloaded as much don't enjoy the site as much. Maybe we don't have the time or bandwidth to be able to spend that much.
So what do the rest of us do??

You can sit and wait but you can also explore this forum. MM is not necessary right now, there are still ways to put money in your account. Sometimes one can pay throught Alltunes, there is also the way through Allpay so be inventive if you like to continue downloading music on a legal bases from one off the best musicsites of the world.
Why are some of us not included as MM yet, because we don't spend enough; that is an economic reality that is applied all over the world in all kinds of businesses.

The idea behind MemphisMembers is just to pick out those members that are the most profitable and the least likely to be associated with the music industry, and give them exclusive access. If allofmp3 gets shut down, these people will still be able to download. This makes sense because if there's some risk involved into inviting people to an exclusive club, you're going to pick those people that have both low risk and high profit.
Of course it's a dead-end street because it won't allow any new members to join. Even now it's already mostly dead-end because you can only join after having spent > $300 on AOM3/Sparks, while it's very hard to add more money to your balance...

With only $60 spent, it may be a better idea to just drop your allofmp3 account and create a new MP3Sparks account. Even though I'm quite sure the RIAA will try to fight MP3Sparks eventually, it will probably take some time.

Don't take it personally.. it's a business..I can't get in either..and I have
have not reached the limit..nor do I care..be patient..allofmp3 is working on it
and they are under siege by the record industry..meanwhile look at the many
great alternative sites that are talked about in the forums..maybe one of them is for you..there are many people in the same boat..don't despair..
hang out here until things are straightened out...and see what others are doing..people here are really nice and will be glad to help..
Good Luck,
Nightfly

hello and welcome to the forums.

bottom line is we do not make the rulz for the enterence to mm. people post here all the time asking for this and that and how they would spend more money if they could. thats all great but again the bottom line is they make the rulz not the aomp3 community.

my advice to you is don't drop your aomp3 account and stay focused on the balance page looking for the invite to sparks.

once you get the invite you will be able to refill cc periodically.

thanks and hang in there,
chad

YES, YES, YES - it can work - 06-02-2007, 01:41 PM

Just found & joined this forum which I think is great for info on this whole fast-changing topic.
I had migatrated to mp3sparks a few days back when the link appeared on my balance page at allofmp3.
Many of my questions were answered by reading the various posts but it was all becoming a bit contradictory and I was starting to despair that I would ever be able to refresh my balance (I was on 15 cents !!).
BUT - I followed the advice and kept trying mp3sparks and alltunes alternatively and after about 30 attempts on each I suddenly got the actual payment page on mp3sparks and was able to get £25 into my account. I will keep trying as £25 does not last long (I like 320 kbps) but it proves it can work - even if it is a little weird that it seems so random.

I've been refreshing my balance page for a couple days now and still nothing. I also e-mailed tech support at AllofMP3 to ask about getting my account transferred over to MP3Sparks letting them know the only reason why I haven't been able to spend more money was due to the fact that payment options have been limited for most people, especially their North America customers. They responded by telling me everything I need is on my balance page. To which I replied I have not got the message letting me know about Sparks and asking me to switch over. After that, I haven't heard anything else from AllofMP3. I'd like to be switched over to Sparks. They could have a life-long customer in me...they just need to give opportunity to switch my account over....

I have the same problem as you..and have done the same as you with the same message back...don't take it personally..the only option now is to have patience and wait until they switch you over...mean while explore the other available sites and spend your money on sites that are presently taking
CC...I am also from the US and have been a big supporter but they are directing us towards Chronopay while others are being directed through E-Centru that sometimes works..They may be a little leary of US citizens for a good reason..look how oppressive our governmnet has been towards them..can't blame them..whatever.. life goes on...enjoy it.
Just hang in there,
Nightfly

Just a quick update from my post above - right at this minute I can add money to mp3sparks via either the sparks site itself or by alltunes. This is a big change from yesterday when I had to try like 30+ times on each before suddenly getting into the sparks payment page and being able to pay in $25.
So, the advice to "keep on trying" was absolutely correct although I must abmit I was just about to give up when, hey presto, it worked.

You know, someone once told me a great quote : "the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result". I do not think this person had ever worked in the world of computer systems ... LOL.

With my next payment I will be over $300 (joined allofmp3 in Jan 2005) and now need to check out this whole MM thing (a confession - I had never heard of MM until I was recently searching for solutions to the payment problem issue and subsequently joining this forum ... not sure if this confession = automatic "barred-for-life" but I guess I'll see). Not even sure of the benefits and so I guess I had better go check.

Cool!

Crossing fingers for you on getting inside MemphisMembers.

For more details about what people should expect from being a MemphisMember, allow me to pimp out a great, ever-developing sticky made by solaris - with some nice informative MemphisMembers screenshots from yours truely:

http://www.aom3.org/forum/showthread...=3391#post3391

This is the second post in the sticky, with that much needed detail regarding the MemphisMembers' benefits (first screenshot) and other nice things on the rest of the screens.

P.S. Be sure to check the entire sticky.

For your viewing pleasure and all the best..

Samuel.
