I assume you are talking about the Z-2300 speakers, are you living with the bass ok and what is your main type of music?

Not having room around my desk for a subwoofer, I bought a pair of Bose Companion 2 speakers at a local big box store (BJ's, $65). I've been pretty happy with them and like them for having a nice balance at low volumes.

There's two different models but these are the ones I have:

The bass is absolutely amazing, except the more you get the more you want. Music I listen to varies a lot, but usually classical, rnb/hip hop, indie etc...
