Movie Downloads -
02-06-2010, 05:31 PM
Originally in another thread, I was attracted by the posts concerning the different movie sites, Filmous in particular.
There were also various comments about other sites such as ZML and MovieBerry.
For an update on these ...
I've not heard anything very good about ZML so have steered clear of it.
MovieBerry is good and the quality and the d/l speed has, for me anyway, been without any problems. They used to charge $1.50 per d/l but changed their selling policy to a trial of 99c for one days worth of downloading up to 20 movies after which it was $39.95 for a months subscription covering unlimited downloads at no extra cost (in that month).
This became too much for me so I joined up with Filmous (part of MovieBerry) which charge $1.50 for a standard Divx movie d/l. Again, quality and speed of direct d/l has so far been excellent.
Movie Pro is another site with quality and speed as above but they charge a minimum of $2.99 per Divx d/l.
I've not found any movie forums for these except perhaps sitejabber.com for Filmous which I've contacted but with no response so far.
Finally, my question ... I'm looking for anyone who uses Filmous and FlashGet as a combination to download movies. How do I get a Filmous movie to successfully download via FlashGet? I think I've got halfway to doing this but no further. If anyone can help me, I'd be most grateful.
Michael.
EDIT This post was added from another thread but the real #1 posting is below!
Thanks.

Movie Downloads -
02-08-2010, 07:30 PM
I've started this thread because there doesn't seem to be any forums that cater for those interested in movie downloading. I'm sure that there are many out there who have problems or queries relating to this ... I am one of them ... and it can get very frustrating when you can't find anyone to give you the suggestions or answers that you're looking for.
There are many sites, both fee-paying and free from where movies can be downloaded and, as with anything, all have their advantages and disadvantages.
So if anyone wants to know "How do I ..." or "What's the best movie site that ..." or "Can I do ..." or even to vent your opinions about movie downloading such as quality, speed or whatever, this is the place to send your post and if it generates enough interest amongst other users, then they will send in their replies which will hopefully solve someones problem.

I've been tempted by filmous but am a bit concerned by their payment page. None of the certification seals are clickable (in that they link to a certificate) , according to firefox security filmous has a thawte certificate but parts of the payment page are not encrypted. Is it really safe to give this site my credit card details?
I've used mp3 sites in the past but these have always been paid through paypal.

filmous security -
02-09-2010, 02:54 AM
hi ...
i'm sure the padlock showed up as green and locked when i last refilled my account with them but now it's showing up as 2 pieces, red and locked ... whatever that means! a bit of a worry.
it would do no harm at all if you message them as regards their security and i'll do the same but be prepared to wait a few days for their reply as they tend to take some time before they send an answer.

Filmous -
02-15-2010, 12:33 PM
Hi,
Its been a while since I checked back here and I saw your thread.
I've used Filmous for about 12 months now, I've uploaded credit several times totaling over $200 and not had any problems with them. There's been a couple times that I got an incomplete file but that was my fault for not using a download manager. each time I had this problem they credited me back the download fee. I've been getting HD files from them lately and all have been pretty good. I've started using a program called internet download manager to grab the files and its sped things up a lot, it also resumes dropped connections.
The only problem I've had is a cant seem to add credit to my account at the moment, 3 cards have been rejected by their payment system in the last week.
They do sometimes take a while to respond to messages also, but like I said all the movies I got have been good and for HD@ 3 bucks a pop I cant complain.

hi greg ...
just read your post ... very interesting.
i started with filmous in november but used both movie pro and movieberry before that.
i've not had any major problems when paying topping up my account using both mastercard and visa cc and have found them very oblidging as regards refunds.
they suggest using flashget as a download manager but it's taken me just over a month to get round a problem that prevented me actually using it. finally got it working yesterday morning so now i can download again ...
my only irritation with filmous is the length of time they take to answer queries which i find very frustrating!!
to pixi ...
still no reply yet from my message to filmous regarding paying via paypal!

Filmous.com, movieberry.com -
02-16-2010, 06:43 PM
I am posting here to help keep others from being milked by these companies. Both sites are operated by the same outfit. In the past, Movieberry.com service was OK. They have since changed their billing set up & seem to be ready to "skip town" soon, but not before getting as much off of each credit card that they can.
I was told (via email) that I would have a balance that would be deducted from for each file I downloaded & that my original account with Movieberry would be shut down & moved to their other site with the same files, Filmous.com.
This was the way Movieberry's billing was originally set up, but the company decided to change their billing practices mid-game & with no notice to customers.
At Filmous.com, most movies will not even download but my balance is being deducted for those files anyway. Additionally, I found out my card is STILL being billed for recurring charges of $40 per month!!
I have emailed the companies several times with no response. Stay far away from filmous.com and movieberry.com. These companies also are connected to MP3panda.com.
filmous.com, filmous, filmous.com, filmous, movieberry, movieberry.com, mp3panda.com, MP3panda

filmous etc ... -

interesting comments.
i was also with movieberry until they changed their billing policy and, like yourself, i then shifted to filmous. as you rightly pointed out, both outfits are basically the same company but i'm not sure why they have different payment policies. the same films and service seem to be available from both.
so far, they've been okay with me apart from their replies to my queries ... they just take a frustratingly long time to reply!!
if i experience what's happened to you, i'll certainly be on the look-out for an alternative source.

Filmous and MP3Fiesta -
02-20-2010, 01:29 PM
Hi Michael,
I've now emailed Filmous 4 times via their website regarding not being able to upload credit to my account and I'm still waiting for a response. Its been about 2 weeks now.
@Muddd I had issues with broken downloads etc, at Christmas in particular the site was extremely overloaded. I had problems with 504 gateway time-out errors a few times and downloads stopping part way through. Some files I downloaded weren't complete and I didn't realise until I played them a week later. On every occasion Filmous issued me with a credit back to my account even for the ones they checked their side and were OK. Can't fault them in that regard. All of my download issues were fixed by using Internet download manager, its a paid for software but I works great, maxing out my download speed, flashgot or flashget are similar but free.
I can only speak from personal experience and like I said I've had no problems so far with them that wasn't sorted out well.
On different subject but as you mentioned them I'll add my take on MP3Fiesta. Again I've had no problems with them, the only issue I had with them was when they ramped up their prices overnight a while ago. I had $100 credit with them which they effectively halved in value for me.
I started to wind down my account there. Then last year(April to be exact) they offered me a Gold or Platinum account, unlimited downloads for a year or for life respectively.
I thought what the hell and took the plunge. I've been using that gold account for almost a year now. There is a 1000 track limit a day I think. I know because I've hit it on a regular basis.
MP3Fiesta are indeed slower than sparks at updating and dont offer bitrate choices so I just use it as a first stop off point. If what I want is there I get it. If it isn't there I try MP3Sale where I also have an account, if its not there I log into my Memphis Members account, they almost alway have what I want :-)
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that I brought the gold MP3Fiesta account last year when people on these forums were shouting about them closing down. I'm still using it now. They could close tomorrow who knows, I'm happy with what I got though :-)
I have about 60 bucks left in my Filmous account, I hope the site doesn't close. I'll be more dissapointed about losing a great, cheap source of HD content than losing the 60 bucks still in the account.
If anyone knows of anywhere similar I'd be very interested to know. There's no way I'm signing up for a monthly plan though.
Regards
Greg
PS If you see any reviews on there from MAD4WDW feel free to give me some karma LOL
