Post MP3 VS. CDs - 11-06-2007, 11:06 PM

As the author of this article states "The CD is Not Obsolete. It Just Lost Competitive Advantage". Though the consumer is aware that the CD
offers sonic advantages to the Mp3, the Mp3 is still the most popular
format.Thirty years of Mp3 longevity proves this to be true.

See the other reasons the CD format is falling short.

The CD is Not Obsolete. It Just Lost Competitive Advantage

For me, the CD is far from dead. I can dump 100 mp3s onto a CD to listen to in my car

I agree as storage for Mp3's..
but I can't remember
the last time I was in a CD store.....

The article was about popularity, not necessarily which
one is better.

To me, if I really like a cd, i need the physical disc. Why, its more permanent, and plus u get a cover, and usually boring liner notes, but, cds can't get deleted, or corrupted easily.

So how does the artist get paid if we don't buy cds?

Hi cubby.

Well, you don't have to get into a store nowadays to buy physical CD's

I primarily use these two excellent internet CD stores: www.BangCD.com and www.Music-Wow.com to buy new physical CD's

And I think the artist usually gets a cut of the royalties from music download sales, although it's likely to be less than for physical sales.
