Thumbs up Alpine CDE-9871RH CD Player - 07-18-2007, 01:39 PM

It is well over two months since I started this thread and I have finally sorted out my car. After all of the advice, I went for an Alpine CDE-9871RH CD Player (from Halfords) which means that I can now listen to my i-pod as I drive without all of the crackles & pops. This i-pod sits in the glove box and is controlled from the stereo (very easy). It even charges itself, ideal when I next go out for that long drive. After chosing which one I wanted, the guys at Halfords fitted it for me (£9.99 charge) and I am very happy with what I've got. Thanks to James, Focusedonsoudn, aom3 & 320kbps for all of their advice,
Cheers,
Dave C

I've heard of something like this is it like the system they use in BMWs and Land Rovers? From what I understand you have this box that plugs directly into the audio input for your car stereo. Something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/iPod-Adapter-Digital-Interface-BMW-Mini-Rover-BMWI_W0QQitemZ380036167792QQihZ025QQcategoryZ60208 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I'm fortunate that USA Spec manufactures a model of their iPod interface that works in my Volvo. Here's a link to their site. They can be found online for about $100, and are pretty easy to install if you know how to get your radio out.
